There are many resume writing services and interview preparation services available, and it’s natural to wonder what makes me qualified to do this work. Why choose me to spend your hard earned money. Let me introduce myself and give a little background.
I have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing from Kent State University, and have a Six Sigma certification. My field has been in technology for that time, and have worked both as a consultant and a salaried employee. I’ve worked in most industries (financial, health care, technology, public utilities, consulting, pharmaceuticals, insurance, transportation, education, and manufacturing). I’ve worked for some of the largest corporations in the country (e.g CVS Health) and have worked for small companies with a few hundred employees (Century Products Co.).
Due to the number of companies I’ve worked for, you can imagine the number of interviews I’ve been through before I got one of those positions. I’ve been through interviews that went well and I didn’t get the job, and I went through interviews that I thought I performed very poorly and ended up getting the job. Then, once in leadership, I saw the process from the other end. I’ve created positions by writing job descriptions, screened candidates for HR both for myself and and others working with HR, and I’ve interviewed candidates and selected who to hire as the hiring manager. I even screened candidates for a time as a recruiter.
Throughout this time, I have offered, then after a track record of success, was asked to review resumes, guide employees, friends, peers and superiors through their job search, critique their resumes and advise on negotiations. After a time, I thought that I might be able to monetize this skill, and here I am.
Will you always get the job and salary you want? You will not. None of us have a perfect track record, and I’ve been disappointed myself in jobs that I thought I had locked up. So I won’t guarantee you will get that perfect job, but I can promise you that if you’re open minded and listen to my advice, your odds will improve, and you will be more successful. Sometimes it’s not pleasant to have someone come along and poke at your hard work if you already have a resume, I’ve been on the receiving end of that myself. But I’ve also seen examples where when I made changes that I thought made no sense, I was contacted more often for positions. And it’s not pleasant to go through interviews and be made to feel uncomfortable with what sometimes feel like trick or impossible to answer questions, but they happen all the time. So you need practice in order to be able to handle those situations with more skill.
I’m here to help you, because ultimately, it’s satisfying to me to help people get a job or a better position. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note.
